30–31 May — Leith Food Festival (Edinburgh)
A popular local food and drink festival held at Leith Links, featuring Scottish street food, craft beverages, music, and artisan producers. It’s ideal if you want a more relaxed and authentic Edinburgh atmosphere before the huge summer tourist season begins.
6 June — Helensburgh & Lomond Highland Games
One of the first major Highland Games of the summer season, with traditional Scottish athletics, pipe bands, Highland dancing, and caber tossing. Great for experiencing classic Scottish culture in a smaller coastal setting.
12–14 June — Scottish Traditional Boat Festival (Portsoy)
A maritime heritage festival celebrating Scotland’s fishing and coastal traditions. Expect historic boats, folk music, whisky tastings, seafood, crafts, and a lively harbour atmosphere.
18–21 June — Royal Highland Show (Edinburgh)
Scotland’s biggest agricultural and countryside event, combining livestock competitions, equestrian events, Scottish food halls, rural crafts, shopping, and live entertainment. Surprisingly enjoyable even for non-farming visitors.
19–21 June — TRNSMT Festival (Glasgow)
Scotland’s largest modern music festival, held at Glasgow Green. The 2026 lineup includes artists such as Lewis Capaldi, Kasabian, Richard Ashcroft, Wolf Alice, and Amy Macdonald. The festival attracts tens of thousands of visitors and has a very energetic local atmosphere.

2–6 July — Kelburn Garden Party (Largs)
An alternative arts and music festival held around the famous graffiti-covered Kelburn Castle. It blends electronic music, live bands, art installations, workshops, woodland stages, and camping into a very creative experience.
11 July — Inverness Highland Games
One of Scotland’s best-known Highland Games events, held at Bught Park in the Highlands. It features heavyweight competitions, pipe bands, dancing, food stalls, and a large international crowd.

7–31 August — Edinburgh Festival Fringe
The world’s largest arts festival, transforming Edinburgh into a giant performance venue for comedy, theatre, music, cabaret, dance, and experimental art. Thousands of performances take place across the city, and accommodation books up very early.
August — Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo
One of Scotland’s most iconic events, staged on the esplanade of Edinburgh Castle. The Tattoo combines military bands, international performers, ceremonial displays, and fireworks in a dramatic historic setting.
